CLEMSON, S.C. — Ian Schieffelin, a former Clemson basketball standout now playing football, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
In response to the arrest, Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney issued a statement acknowledging the incident and outlining disciplinary action.
“We are aware of Ian Schieffelin’s arrest on suspicion of DUI. Clemson Athletics has a clear policy by which we will abide, so Ian will miss some competition to start this season as a consequence. We’re obviously very disappointed by the situation, but we are very thankful no others were involved and no one was hurt.”
The university has not yet confirmed the number of games Schieffelin will miss, but the suspension will take effect at the start of the football season.
