A 55-year-old man from Wolf Creek, Oregon, has been arrested on charges of second-degree manslaughter following a devastating pickup truck crash that resulted in the death of his 11-year-old daughter. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), alcohol and drugs played a role in the tragic accident.
The crash occurred Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. near the 1200 block of Tunnel Road in Glendale. Ian Anthony Fleming, the driver of a green Ford F250, was accompanied by three juvenile passengers at the time of the incident. Fleming, who was able to exit the truck on his own, attempted to get medical assistance for his critically injured daughter.
In an effort to get her help, Fleming borrowed a car to drive his daughter to the nearby ambulance station on Tunnel Road. Tragically, paramedics declared her dead upon arrival. The other two juveniles in the vehicle were transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford for treatment.
After initially fleeing the scene, Fleming returned and was interviewed by detectives. Following the interview, investigators determined that drugs and alcohol contributed to the crash, leading to Fleming’s arrest on charges of second-degree manslaughter. He is currently being held at the Douglas County Jail.
