The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) arrested and deported a 27-year-old Ugandan national suspected of involvement with drug peddlers, officials said.

The accused, Juliana Victor Nabitaka, a native of Kampala, Uganda, was found staying illegally in Hyderabad. She arrived in India on a tourist visa on February 12, 2024, travelling across the country and residing for extended periods in Chennai, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Police said Juliana came into contact with foreign drug peddlers and allegedly participated in drug trafficking activities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad to earn quick money. Her visa expired on January 18, 2025, but she continued to stay illegally in India. She reportedly admitted to overstaying despite her passport being valid until October 31, 2033.

Following her apprehension, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office assisted H-NEW in initiating deportation proceedings. Juliana was blacklisted from re-entering India and deported to Uganda from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on December 21 under police escort.

Officials stated that the operation aimed to prevent her involvement in activities detrimental to national security. The action was led by an inspector from the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing.
