In a significant operation, Hyderabad’s South Zone Task Force, in collaboration with Mahankali police, successfully dismantled an extensive online betting network operating from a residence in Ranigunj. The police arrested four suspects and confiscated Rs92.12 lakh in cash, believed to have been generated through illegal betting activities.
The arrested individuals were identified as Godela Sandeep Kumar (Ranigunj), S. Abhishek Kumar (Goshamahal), Vinay Singh (Mangalhat), and P. Yashwanth Gupta (punter). Authorities revealed that the operation was being run by a Delhi-based bookie named Adem, who is currently on the run. Among the arrested, one acted as a collection agent, while others served as sub-bookies and punters.
Investigations into the operation revealed that the accused were leveraging multiple online platforms to facilitate cricket betting. The punters were provided with login credentials, allowing them access to websites where they could place illegal bets. The betting operations were disguised as “games of chance” to avoid detection, making it easier to profit illegally.
Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao emphasized the growing challenge of online betting in the city. He commended the police team for their quick and coordinated action, adding that this operation is part of a broader strategy to combat illegal gambling activities in Hyderabad. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the main accused, Adem, who remains at large.
