Hyderabad Police Bust Fake Birth Certificate Scam Involving Municipality Staff

Six Arrested, Including Narsingi Municipality Employee, for Forging Documents

In Hyderabad, six people were arrested on Wednesday for their involvement in issuing fraudulent birth certificates to Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India illegally. The arrests included G Sudhir Kumar, a staff member at the Narsingi Municipality, and four other individuals who played significant roles in the document-forging operation.

YVS Sudhindra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Madhya Mandal Task Force, confirmed the arrests, which included municipal employee Sudhir Kumar (27), agents Mohammed Mukheeb (39), T Sai Kiran (50), G Ranjanikant (46), along with Bangladeshi nationals Mohammed Hasibul (25) and Rohan Shah (21).

According to Kumar, Hasibul, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation, had illegally entered India from Dhaka, Bangladesh, four years ago via West Bengal after bribing an agent with Rs 25 lakh. He initially obtained a fake Aadhaar card under the name of Jovan Chaudhary in South Kolkata. There, Hasibul worked as a karate instructor, earning Rs 20,000 per month. He eventually met Jaya Chaudhary from Malakpet, Hyderabad, through Facebook, married her, and moved to the city, where he started an online clothing business and food delivery service.

Around eight months ago, Hasibul sought help from Mohammed Mukheeb, a pawn shop owner in Malakpet, to obtain a birth certificate. Mukheeb then introduced him to Sai Kiran, a DTP operator in Chadar Ghat. Kiran suggested that Hasibul contact G Ranjanikant in Chanchalguda, who in turn connected him with Sudhir Kumar, the municipality employee. Kumar agreed to issue a fake birth certificate for Rs 15,000 in the name of Jovan Chaudhary. With the birth certificate, Hasibul also obtained a voter ID card, which would have allowed him to apply for an Aadhaar card.

Furthermore, Hasibul also facilitated the entry of Rohan Shah, another Bangladeshi national, into India. Shah had arrived in Kolkata three months ago and was working as a tourist guide. Hasibul assisted Shah in settling in Hyderabad and provided him with a fake Aadhaar card. Together, they planned to obtain passports using these forged documents. However, their plans were thwarted when the documents were found to be fake during verification, leading to their arrest by the police.

The police discovered the entire scam while investigating Mukhid, the pawn shop owner, who had been implicated based on information from another Bangladeshi national. A police team undercover visited the Narsingi Municipality office, where Sudhir Kumar agreed to provide a fake birth certificate. The operation culminated in the arrest of all six suspects, who were later handed over to the Malakpet Police for further investigation. The police seized several items, including seven mobile phones, a laptop, fake Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards, a birth certificate, and a Bangladeshi passport.
