The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone team, along with Afzalgunj police, busted an inter-state ganja peddling racket near MGBS, arresting eight persons, including three minors. Police seized 23 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 16 lakh from their possession.
The arrested include Kishor Takri (38), a ganja procurer, transporter, and peddler; Panmati Takri (30); Lakshmi Takri (30); Balaram Khilo (26); three Children in Conflict with Law (CCL) from Odisha; and Shankar Singh (32) of Dhoolpet.
Police investigations revealed that Kishor Takri had been supplying ganja in bulk to Hyderabad peddlers for the past two years, and two prior cases were registered against him. He allegedly procured ganja from Indra Madi and Sanjay at Rs 3,000–4,000 per kg and sold it at Rs 7,000 per kg through Shankar Singh.
According to Ande Srinivasa Rao, Additional DCP, Task Force, Shankar recently placed an order for 23 kg of ganja, transferring Rs 1.40 lakh online as payment. When the accused arrived in Hyderabad to collect the consignment, police intercepted them and seized the contraband. Further investigation is ongoing.
