Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has arrested a 28-year-old software professional for allegedly peddling narcotics. Police recovered 10 grams of cocaine and 11 ecstasy pills from him. The accused, working at a tech firm, reportedly turned to drug abuse after a failed relationship, which eventually led him to become a drug peddler, officials said. Initially a user of OG, he escalated to cocaine and became a regular at city pubs. Police estimate the seized drugs’ worth at Rs 3 lakh. The accused sourced cocaine from Bengaluru and Goa via courier and sold it locally, operating in the drug network for about five months. Charges under the NDPS Act have been filed.
In a separate case, two men from Rajasthan — Pawan Bhati and Hemsingh Kachhawa — were arrested in Hyderabad for supplying ‘Meow-Meow,’ a synthetic stimulant drug. Police seized 100 grams of the drug and a country-made pistol from their possession. Pawan, who had previously run sweet shops in Hyderabad, was introduced to drug peddling by Hemsingh, a transport businessman with a criminal record and recent jail release under the POCSO Act.
Additionally, Hyderabad police initiated deportation proceedings against two Nigerian nationals, Aful Clement (29) and Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour (19), arrested in Tolichowki for alleged drug trafficking links. Clement, who came on a business visa, had previously been arrested in a cheating case in Chandigarh. Lazarus, on a student visa, was reportedly active in Hyderabad’s drug network. Authorities found Clement had overstayed his visa, prompting the deportation move.
