Over a month after registering a case against an IT company quality analyst for drug peddling, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) arrested seven individuals on Wednesday, including four peddlers from Mumbai.
At a press conference, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand revealed that the arrested included Mumbai-based electrician Mujaffar Wahid Shaikh, taxi driver Vinod Kishanlal Shrivasthav, 3D art consultant Chaitanya Vinayak Wagh, delivery boy Mustak Khan, and Hyderabad-based drug peddler and IT employee Prem, along with two consumers. The police seized 276 grams of cocaine and eight mobile phones worth Rs 69 lakh from them at Golconda.
Prem had prior cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Nallakunta police and prohibition and excise officials.
Investigations revealed that Mujaffar Wahid Shaikh procured cocaine from an absconding Nigerian national, who smuggled the drug via sea routes and supplied it to another wanted foreign national. Vinod Kishanlal received the cocaine from this chain and sold it at higher prices to Chaitanya Vinayak Wagh.
Prem purchased cocaine from Chaitanya and Mustak Khan and sold it to consumers in Hyderabad for profit.
According to the police, Prem was first arrested in 2022 for possession of LSD, hashish oil, and ecstasy pills.
