Hyderabad police have arrested four members of a gang involved in a fake “cash baarish” (money rain) scam, in which victims were promised that their money would multiply after a special pooja.

The arrested accused are Mohammad Irfan (44), Gugoloth Ravindhar (40), Kavira Sai Baba (41), and Thakur Manohar Singh (39). Another suspect, Abdul Kayyoom from Uttar Pradesh, remains at large. The arrests were made at Gandimaisamma on Sunday.

According to authorities, the gang conducted a fraudulent ritual at Gandimaisamma X Roads on October 18. They offered victims sweets and badam milk laced with sedatives, and then fled with the money. The case was registered at Dundigal Police Station on October 21.

Police seized ₹8.5 lakh in cash, a country-made weapon, and a knife from Irfan, who has prior criminal cases in Uppal and Nizamabad. The investigation into the scam is ongoing.
