In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Central Zone), in coordination with the Saifabad Police Station, arrested three alleged drug peddlers near the IMAX open grounds in Hyderabad.
Police seized 100 grams of brown sugar, 1,350 grams of dry ganja, seven mobile phones, and a Honda motorcycle. The total value of the confiscated material is estimated at Rs 23.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Gulam Jilani (42), a native of Jharkhand; Feroz Bin Ali alias Sahil (20); and Suleman Khan (22), both residents of Attapur. The trio was reportedly intercepted late at night while allegedly involved in the procurement and distribution of narcotics.
Inter-State Drug Network
During interrogation, investigators learned that Jilani sourced the drugs from contacts in Odisha through an intermediary named Afsar. In October, he reportedly travelled to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jaleshwar, and Balasore to procure 115 grams of brown sugar and 1,350 grams of ganja for Rs 3.5 lakh. He returned to Hyderabad by bus on November 1 with the contraband.
Feroz and Suleman allegedly purchased small sachets from Jilani at Rs 5,000 per gram and resold them to consumers at prices ranging between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000 per gram, earning commissions of up to Rs 3,000 per gram.
Police revealed that the duo confessed to selling three grams to an individual identified as Mohd Ahmed on November 4 for Rs 24,000. The buyer later died of an overdose in Shivrampally, a development that intensified the investigation.
Continued Crackdown
The arrested individuals and the seized materials have been handed over to the Saifabad Police for further legal proceedings under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Vaibhav Gaikwad Raghunath.
Officials stated that the operation highlights Hyderabad police’s continued crackdown on drug trafficking networks that contribute to addiction and fatal overdoses.
