Hyberabad Police have solved a high-profile ATM theft case that occurred on July 8 and 9 in the Jeedimetla area, under Jeedimetla Police Station jurisdiction. DCP Suresh Kumar of Balanagar Zone shared details during a recent press briefing.
On July 8, police received an alert about smoke emanating from an HDFC ATM. Upon arrival, investigators found that the robbers used gas cutters to forcibly break into the machine. The ATM’s alarm system had been disabled, allowing the thieves to conduct the robbery without immediate detection.
The gang stole a total of Rs34.71 lakh from the ATM. In response, seven special police teams were formed, gathering crucial technical evidence to apprehend the culprits.
Police investigation revealed that the accused hailed from Haryana. Acting on intelligence, one suspect was arrested at a PG hostel in Begumpet’s Prakash Nagar. The police seized oxygen cylinders, gas cutters, and Rs17 lakh cash from the site.
So far, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case:
Yasib Hussain
Ameer Hansari
Md. Abed
Further investigation uncovered that the trio met while serving sentences for a previous criminal case. After release, they regrouped to plan and execute the ATM heist.
