In a breakthrough investigation, Delhi police have arrested Anil Kumar, a businessman, for the murder of his wife Seema Singh, whose body was found in a drain nearly a month ago. The arrest came after a nose pin found on the victim provided crucial evidence that led authorities to unravel the mystery surrounding her death.
The body of 47-year-old Seema Singh was discovered on March 15, wrapped in a bedsheet and tied to a stone and cement sack in a drain in Delhi. Initially, police struggled to identify the victim. However, a nose pin found at the scene proved to be a key lead. Tracing the item to a jewelry store in South Delhi, police found that it had been purchased by Anil Kumar, a property dealer who lived at a farmhouse in Gurugram. The bill for the nose pin was issued in his name.
Further investigation revealed that Seema Singh was married to Anil Kumar for over 20 years. When police initially contacted him, he claimed that Seema had gone to Vrindavan and was unreachable by phone. His contradictory statements soon raised suspicions. A follow-up with the family revealed that Seema had not been in contact with them since March 11. Despite repeated assurances from Kumar that Seema was fine and in Jaipur, her family grew increasingly concerned.
On April 1, Seema’s family was asked to identify a body, and they confirmed it was hers. A post-mortem report later confirmed that Seema had been strangled to death. The family pointed out that only Seema and her husband had keys to their Dwarka residence, strengthening the case against Anil Kumar.
Following the discovery of these discrepancies, Anil Kumar and his guard, Shiv Shankar, were arrested. The investigation into the murder is ongoing, and authorities are looking into further details regarding the motive behind the crime.
