Hukkeri Police Arrest Four in Child Trafficking Racket

Child Sold for Rs4 Lakh, Four Arrested Including Two Women

In a significant breakthrough, Hukkeri police arrested four individuals, including three women, in connection with a child trafficking racket. The accused were involved in selling a child for Rs4 lakh. District Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled confirmed the arrests and provided details of the case.

The child, who had been trafficked, was handed over to child welfare officers for safe custody. The main culprits, a couple named Sangeeta G Kammar from Byatanal in Hangal taluk and Sadashiv Magadum from Sultanpur in Belagavi district, sold their son to Dilshad, a resident of Belagavi. Sangeeta, after separating from her first husband, was instigated by her second husband, Sadashiv, to sell their child.

Two accomplices, Anusuya Girimallappa Dodmani from Kesarolli village in Haliyal taluk and Sangeeta Vishnu Savant from Kolhapur, were also arrested for their roles in the racket. All four individuals are currently under interrogation as police continue to investigate the case further.
