HOUSTON, Texas — A 61-year-old Houston man, Kelvin Menefee, was arrested early Monday morning after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of crack cocaine in his vehicle, according to the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office.

The incident occurred on January 12, 2026, at approximately 12:56 a.m., when K-9 Deputy K. Peters stopped a white Lexus for multiple traffic violations on the 11100 block of the Gulf Freeway. During the stop, K-9 Duke conducted an open-air sniff and detected the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 5.2 grams of crack cocaine, a crack pipe, and several small plastic bags commonly used for packaging controlled substances.

Menefee was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver. He was booked without incident at the Harris County Joint Processing Center, and his bond was set at $80,000.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office confirmed acceptance of the charge.
