THE VILLAGES, Fla. – A homeless man was arrested in connection with the theft of a bicycle trailer from Target at Rolling Acres Plaza in The Villages.

The incident occurred on March 19, 2025, around 9:10 p.m., when Lady Lake Police responded to a retail theft report. According to the arrest report, 41-year-old Justin David MacArthur entered the store, picked up a $149.99 bicycle trailer, and loaded it into his cart. He then left the store through the front entrance, bypassing the checkout, and headed south.

As the officer arrived at the scene, he was provided a description of MacArthur. The officer headed south on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, and while passing Rolling Acres Road, he saw a man fitting MacArthur’s description riding a bicycle while pulling a blue bike trailer. The officer turned around and detained the suspect.

Upon detaining MacArthur, the officer and a K-9 unit searched his belongings. The K-9 alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, and a search revealed 0.3 grams of marijuana in a plastic jar. Additionally, a woman accompanying MacArthur permitted a search of her belongings, leading to the discovery of 1.68 grams of methamphetamine in a pink container. MacArthur claimed ownership of both the drugs.

MacArthur was charged with retail theft (second or subsequent conviction), possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana. He was taken to Lake County Jail, where his bond was set at $4,500.

MacArthur had also been arrested in March 2022 for allegedly stealing from a Wawa in Mount Dora.
