A 28-year-old home nurse was arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing a nine-sovereign gold chain from the house where she was employed, police said. The stolen chain was subsequently recovered.
The Saravanampatti Police identified the accused as R Easwari, 28, from Nilgiris district. She had joined the residence of W Valli, Ganapathy Maa Nagar, as a home nurse on February 1.
Police reported that on Sunday evening, Valli had placed her gold chain on a table before stepping into the kitchen. Upon returning, she found the chain missing, and Easwari had left the house.
Valli filed a complaint with Saravanampatti police on Monday afternoon. Officers registered a case, traced Easwari, and arrested her. She was produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded in judicial custody, police added.
