Los Angeles, CA (February 9, 2025) — Hollywood producer David Brian Pearce, 42, was convicted this week of first-degree murder for his role in the deaths of two Los Angeles women, Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26. Pearce also faced charges for the rape and sexual assault of seven other women, spanning from 2007 to 2021. He was found guilty on all charges.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed his commitment to holding offenders accountable, stating, “A serial rapist was held accountable for the deaths of Giles and Cabrales-Arzola, both of whom tragically died as a result of fentanyl poisoning, and the victimization of seven other women across Los Angeles.”
The events that led to the deaths occurred on November 13, 2021, when Giles and Cabrales-Arzola met Pearce, along with two other men, at a warehouse party. Pearce then provided the group with GHB and fentanyl at his home. Surveillance footage later showed the women being dropped off at two different hospitals by masked men in a car without license plates.
Giles was declared dead after being found outside Southern California Hospital in Culver City, while Cabrales-Arzola, who was initially resuscitated, died 11 days later at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Hospital.
The investigation revealed Pearce was a habitual offender who had used drugs to assault multiple women. Seven victims testified in court about Pearce’s violent tendencies. Pearce now faces a sentence of 148 years to life in prison, with his sentencing scheduled for March 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, his co-defendant, Brandt Osborne, faces accessory charges and is set for a re-trial next month after a mistrial was declared.
The case underscores the severe consequences of drug-fueled assaults and the devastation caused by fentanyl, as law enforcement continues to combat the growing epidemic.
