Elk City, OK — Three women are facing charges after Elk City police say they worked together to steal hundreds of dollars in merchandise from Walmart. One of the suspects, 51-year-old Holly Jo Garcia of Guymon, was arrested on November 19 for her alleged role in an organized retail crime scheme.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched around 4:39 p.m. after Walmart asset protection employees reported two women repeatedly leaving the store with unpaid merchandise. Employees said the suspects pushed a shopping cart filled with items to a red Chevy pickup in the parking lot, dropped off the merchandise, and then returned inside to steal more.
Police monitored surveillance cameras and identified the women as Letisha Brown, 44, and Chandra Hall, 43, while a third woman, Garcia, was waiting in the truck. Officers stopped Brown and Hall as they attempted to leave through the south exit and contacted Garcia in the driver’s seat of the pickup.
All three women were taken to the asset protection office while police recovered the stolen merchandise. Authorities say Brown and Hall admitted to transporting items to the truck earlier. The recovered items included women’s clothing, underwear, socks, and multiple sets of jewelry, totaling $439.36. The affidavit notes Hall had five previous shoplifting incidents at the Walmart in Guymon within the last three months, totaling $887.
All three women were booked into Beckham County Jail. Garcia, Brown, and Hall are each charged with organized retail crime under Oklahoma Statute 21-1731.2. A judge ruled that probable cause existed for Garcia’s arrest and set her bond at $5,000.
