Hisar police have arrested Mohit Chadda alias Amardeep, the main accused in a fraud case involving promises of jobs abroad, within India. The Economic Offenses Wing apprehended him in Vijay Nagar, Indore. Chadda is currently in police custody on a four-day remand.

Sub-Inspector Bir Singh said the complaint was filed on August 19, 2023, by Yadvender, a taxi driver from Bharat Nagar, Hisar. The accused, along with others, allegedly defrauded people of Rs 29.18 lakh by promising employment opportunities in Canada.

Yadvender met a man named Gagan at a taxi stand on July 30, 2023, who claimed to be recruiting for food packaging jobs in Canada. After sharing the information with friends interested in migrating, the group was called to Chandigarh on August 4 and later to Delhi. They faced repeated delays and were asked to pay Rs 20,000 per person for English training during a stay at the Taj Hotel, Mumbai.

Eventually, victims were informed their visas would not be issued and were sent back. The accused confiscated their mobile phones before fleeing but was arrested within India.
