The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a revenue official (patwari) in Hisar while accepting a bribe of Rs10,000. The accused, identified as Mangat, is reportedly the uncle of a BJP leader.

According to the ACB, Mangat demanded the bribe from Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Chautha Mill area in Hisar, for processing the mutation of a land transfer. Ramesh filed a complaint with the ACB, prompting a swift response.

An ACB team, led by Mahender Singh, prepared a trap. They handed over Rs10,000 in marked currency to the complainant and instructed him to meet Mangat. As soon as Mangat accepted the bribe, the team moved in and caught him red-handed.

The accused is currently in custody, and a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered. Further investigation is underway.
