The police arrested Ashok Pandey, husband of Hindu Mahasabha national general secretary Pooja Shakun Pandey, in connection with the murder of local businessman Abhishek Gupta. Gupta was fatally shot by two unidentified assailants late Friday night near the main Kherreshwar Mandir crossing in the Rorawar police station area.
Ashok Pandey had been in custody since Saturday morning but was formally arrested on Sunday and is being sent to jail. Two other suspects involved in the shooting remain unidentified and are at large, according to police officials.
SSP Neeraj Kumar stated that the victim’s father accused the Pandey couple of orchestrating the murder over a monetary dispute. The victim’s family alleges that the couple had been harassing Gupta for some time before the fatal shooting.
Gupta was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital after the attack but was declared dead on arrival. Police continue their investigation and the search for the other suspects.
