In a significant development in a hit-and-run case that shocked Ahmedabad, two men were arrested from Rajasthan for allegedly injuring six individuals with a car following a dispute. The accused — Himmatsinh alias Karansinh Bhursinh Rajput and his associate Tarun Ishwar Shukla — were nabbed in Udaipur and brought back to Ahmedabad on Wednesday, police confirmed.
The incident occurred on March 30 around 10:30 PM, when an argument reportedly broke out over a Rs1,000 debt in the city’s Bapunagar area. According to the police, Rajput allegedly escalated the fight by using his car as a weapon.
He first reversed the car at high speed, hitting Vijay Padmashali, who suffered a fractured leg, and Hiten Harshad Parmar, who sustained minor injuries. Then, Rajput is alleged to have accelerated the vehicle forward, turned it, and rammed into four others — Rajansinh Rajput (the complainant), Rohitsinh Rajput, Mohit Rajput, and Kalpesh Parmar — injuring all of them.
The ‘H’ Division Traffic Police registered an FIR and launched an intensive investigation. After identifying Rajput as a resident of Bapunagar, police visited his residence but found him missing. Further leads revealed that both Rajput and Shukla had fled to Udaipur, where they were finally tracked and arrested.
Investigators also found that Tarun Shukla allegedly threatened the victims’ families, trying to coerce them into withdrawing their complaint.
The accused are now in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway. The case highlights the growing concern over road rage incidents escalating into violent crimes.
