The Crime Branch 19 team, led by Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar, arrested two men from Himachal Pradesh for allegedly smuggling heroin. The accused have been identified as Naresh Kumar (38) from Angwah village, Shimla district, and Gaurav Sharma (33) from Pujarli Ka Kandaghati, Solan district.

Following a tip-off, police intercepted the suspects near Gaushala in Sector-23 while they were traveling by car via Dumping Ground toward Majri Chowk. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 13.42 grams of heroin.

The duo reportedly purchased the heroin from Zirakpur and were distributing it across Himachal Pradesh and Panchkula.

A case under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered at Chandimandir Police Station. The accused were presented before the court and remanded to three days of police custody for further investigation.

Police efforts now focus on tracing the main supplier and mapping the drug distribution network.

Commissioner of Police Rakesh Kumar Arya has ordered stringent measures to eliminate drug trafficking in the district. This is part of the ongoing “Drug and Violence-Free – My Village, My Pride” campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and enforcing strict action against traffickers.
