Hilo Couple Arrested for Stealing Rental Car, Meth Arrest During Search

Spencer Ah Nee and Andrelin-Stacey Ramos Face Multiple Charges After Theft and Domestic Dispute

by Sophia Bennett

A Hilo couple has been arrested after allegedly stealing a rental car in February. The suspects, Spencer Ah Nee, 32, and Andrelin-Stacey Ramos, 36, were taken into custody following a series of events involving a stolen vehicle and a domestic dispute.

On February 9, police responded to a report from an elderly visitor who claimed his rental car had been stolen at Onekahakaha Beach Park. Just two days later, officers were called to a beach park in Hilo due to a domestic dispute. Upon arriving, officers discovered that the vehicle involved in the dispute was the same stolen rental car.

Ramos was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. Her bail was set at $2,000.

Ah Nee fled the scene, and police were unable to locate him during area checks. Authorities issued an arrest warrant for him. On February 24, police found Ah Nee in downtown Hilo and arrested him on the outstanding warrant, as well as for two additional criminal arrest warrants.

During his arrest, police found Ah Nee with a syringe containing methamphetamine. As a result, he was charged with several offenses, including:

First-degree unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle
Two counts of first-degree theft
Third-degree theft
Fourth-degree theft
Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug
Ah Nee’s bail was set at $40,100. Authorities noted that the State of Hawaii has increased penalties for crimes committed against individuals aged 60 or older, which applies to this case.
