Hill Palace police arrested three persons, including a young woman, for allegedly storing and selling ganja from a rented apartment near Thrippunithura in Ernakulam district.
Acting on a tip-off that narcotics were being sold from an apartment along Sathyadi Road, a police team led by Inspector Regin Thomas, along with Sub-Inspectors Balachandran and Santhosh Kumar, conducted a raid on the premises.
During the search, police recovered 1.5 kilograms of ganja stored inside the house and confirmed that it was being sold to customers in the area. The occupants were taken into custody for questioning and subsequently arrested.
The accused were identified as Niveth Shineth (22) and Deva Satish (22), both natives of Thalassery, and Devika (23), a native of Ambalappuzha in Alappuzha district. Police said the trio had rented the apartment specifically to carry out the illegal trade.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the ganja and identify others involved in the supply network. The accused will be produced before a magistrate court.
The incident has raised concerns among residents of the apartment complex, while police reiterated that strict action will continue against drug trafficking activities in the district.
