Shillong police arrested three individuals and seized heroin valued at Rs 25 lakh in a major bust, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The crackdown began with the arrest of Rohit Mattu in the Cantonment area on Tuesday, where police recovered 10 grams of heroin from his possession. Acting on leads from Mattu, authorities apprehended two more suspects — Raman Raina and Suraj Gill — at a rented property in the Laban area. Over 150 grams of heroin was seized from them.
Suraj Gill, identified as the primary supplier, allegedly operates a hardware store in the Cantonment area as a front for his drug operations. Gill reportedly utilized Rohit Mattu, Raman Raina, and another associate, Rohit Honda, who remains at large, to distribute heroin throughout Shillong.
Anti-Narcotics Task Force Superintendent of Police Jagpal Dhanoa stated that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive and dismantle the drug network.
