In a significant crackdown, security personnel intercepted a heroin smuggling operation along National Highway-02 in Bishnupur district, Manipur. Over 369 grams of heroin were seized, and three individuals were arrested in connection with the case.
The first arrests occurred near Terakhongshangbi Bazar under Moirang police jurisdiction. Two suspects, Md. Najeruddin Babu Phisubam (42) and Md. Altab Khan Boy Moijingmayum (31), both residents of Kwakta Ward No. 8, were detained. Authorities recovered 22 soap cases containing approximately 256 grams of heroin. A vehicle and two mobile phones were also confiscated.
Later the same day, security forces apprehended a third suspect, Md. Arub Khan Ipham Khansa (26), from Kwakta Khuman Ward No. 5. He was caught at Kwakta Sabal Leikai under Phougakchao Ikhai police jurisdiction with 10 soap cases holding 113 grams of heroin, along with a four-wheeler and a mobile phone.
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to trace the origins and distribution network of the confiscated drugs. The arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing battle against narcotics trafficking in the region.
