Mount Pleasant, SC — Two South Carolina men are behind bars following an armed robbery during a shoe sale gone wrong in the parking lot of a Mount Pleasant grocery store.

Mount Pleasant Police responded to Lowes Foods on Highway 41 around 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

The victim told police he had arranged to purchase a pair of Nike shoes and met the sellers in a vehicle in the store’s parking lot. After handing over several hundred dollars in cash, a passenger allegedly pulled a gun, pointed it at the victim’s chest, and threatened his life.

According to the police report, the suspect said, “Get the [expletive] out or you will die,” and demanded the victim’s phone, wallet, and keys. The victim stated he had nothing else on him and exited the vehicle.

The suspects were later identified as:

Henry Derrick Robinson, 39, charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon.

Marvin Angelo Pressley, 31, charged with armed robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Both men are currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

While officers were still on the scene of the robbery, the victim received a call from a roommate reporting that their home had been burglarized.

A separate incident report reveals that police were dispatched to the residence around 6:15 p.m., where the roommate found the couch overturned, furniture displaced, and several items missing—including a safe containing a handgun, a flat-screen TV, and the victim’s wallet.

There were no signs of forced entry, and investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.
