BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mercer County man is facing several serious felony charges after a domestic violence incident led authorities to uncover an illegal marijuana operation with nearly 200 plants.
On Thursday, July 17, 2025, at approximately 6:09 p.m., deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at 276 Kiser Road in Bluefield. A caller reported that Henry Kiser, 41, had fired a gun at her husband, assaulted her, and used a tractor to destroy her husband’s vehicle.
The woman told deputies that Kiser was enraged over her husband visiting the property. She claimed that Kiser entered the residence, pulled a pistol from his pocket, and fired two shots at her husband, who fled the scene. Kiser then allegedly followed her to a neighboring home, grabbed her by the neck, slammed her onto the porch, and kicked her repeatedly.
While deputies were still on the scene, Kiser approached on a red tractor and was arrested without incident. During his arrest, Kiser made threats against the male victim, identified as Locklear, claiming he would kill him if given the chance.
Locklear later confirmed the woman’s account, saying Kiser drew a derringer pistol and fired two rounds at him before chasing and assaulting the woman.
Deputies attempted to locate the firearm but were initially denied permission to search the property. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found a safe containing several firearms, including a revolver believed to be linked to the incident. The derringer was not recovered.
While searching the premises, deputies noticed a strong marijuana odor and found two drying plants on the back porch and multiple live plants in kennels behind the residence. A second search warrant was issued, and a total of 187 marijuana plants were seized and taken as evidence.
Kiser now faces the following felony and misdemeanor charges:
Domestic Battery
Domestic Assault
Destruction of Property
Wanton Endangerment
Attempt to Commit a Felony (Murder)
Malicious Assault
Manufacturing a Schedule I Controlled Substance
Kiser was processed and transported to the Southern Regional Jail. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
