City police on Wednesday solved a daylight robbery case in which around Rs 5 lakh was snatched from an e-mitra collection employee in the Jaysinghpura Khor area last month. Four accused were arrested, while a minor allegedly involved in facilitating the crime was detained.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Karan Sharma said the case, reported on December 29, was cracked through meticulous analysis of CCTV footage and intelligence-based inputs. The arrested accused were identified as Hemant Singh Naruka (20), Shiv Sain alias Babu (22), Himanshu Saini (23) and Dipesh Soni (19), all residents of Jaipur and nearby districts.
Police also detained a minor boy who allegedly provided information about the movement of the e-mitra collection staff. The minor was produced before the juvenile justice authorities as per legal procedures.
According to investigators, the robbery occurred when the e-mitra employee was returning on a motorcycle after collecting daily payments, with a cash bag hanging from the vehicle. Two helmet-clad men on another motorcycle followed him and snatched the bag before escaping through narrow market lanes. A case was registered at the Jaysinghpura Khor police station.
Further investigation revealed that the crime was pre-planned. The accused reportedly tracked the timings and route of the collection employee with the help of the minor, who worked at an accessories and e-mitra shop in the area. Police said further probe is underway to verify the group’s involvement in similar incidents.
