COBB COUNTY, Ga. (TNND) — A man living illegally in the United States has been indicted for the brutal killing of Camillia Williams, a Georgia mother and grandmother.
Hector David Sagastume-Rivas was arrested days after Williams’ body was discovered on March 13 in a Marietta neighborhood. Authorities later charged him with felony murder and aggravated assault, and an indictment unsealed last Friday reveals even more severe accusations, including malice murder, rape, aggravated sexual battery, and necrophilia.
Court documents allege Sagastume-Rivas placed Williams in a chokehold and applied his full body weight to her neck, causing her death. Her body was then reportedly dumped in bushes.
Williams, 52, a mother of five and grandmother, had recently shared fears about being followed by a man. Her brother, Arsene Williams, told WSB, “She called the guy a weirdo… he waited until he caught her alone and did what he did.”
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed Sagastume-Rivas entered the U.S. illegally from Honduras in 2021 and was ordered deported in 2023 but failed to appear at his hearing.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt both condemned the murder, linking it to border policy failures. Noem stated, “This illegal alien should have never been in our country.”
Sagastume-Rivas remains in custody as the case continues.
