Victim escaped after violent struggle; suspect faces multiple charges

Thousand Oaks Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Attempted Sexual Assault After Victim’s Escape

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. — Ventura County authorities arrested Hector Prado, a Thousand Oaks resident, on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault following a violent incident on Sunday.

The investigation began when a patrolling sergeant found a woman seeking help near Rancho Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The victim reported she had been kidnapped and taken to a remote location where the suspect attempted to sexually assault her.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the victim managed to escape after a violent struggle with Prado inside his car.

Prado now faces charges including kidnapping, false imprisonment by violence, assault with intent to commit rape, sexual penetration with force, and assault with intent to commit rape.

He was scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, with bail set at $500,000.
