The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested Heather Hinton, 43, of Baton Rouge, following allegations that she stole approximately $42,000 from a youth football organization. Hinton, who served as treasurer for a local affiliate of the South Louisiana Youth Football Association, faces charges including illegal transmission of monetary funds, bank fraud, and theft exceeding $25,000.

The investigation began on August 9 after the football association alerted authorities. Detectives found that Hinton allegedly misappropriated funds for personal use through app payments, ATM withdrawals, and gift card purchases over a period of time.

An arrest warrant was issued on August 19, after which Hinton surrendered to authorities and admitted to the charges. The football organization confirmed that ongoing raffles and fundraisers remain unaffected by the fraud.

Hinton is currently held at the Ascension Parish Jail, according to official records.
