A Richmond man, Hasson Julian Roberts, 42, was sentenced to 40 months in federal prison after authorities discovered over 100 child sexual abuse files on his electronic devices.
Senior U.S. District Judge Robert E. Payne handed down the sentence on Monday. Roberts, who used the alias “boredani” on the KIK Messenger service, was found to have shared videos believed to contain child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to court records.
The FBI began investigating Roberts in November 2020 after receiving information about the videos. Over a year later, on December 8, 2021, agents executed a search warrant at Roberts’ residence, seizing multiple electronic devices, including an external hard drive.
Forensic analysis of the hard drive uncovered more than 100 CSAM files, including videos depicting prepubescent minors involved in various sexual acts.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather H. Mansfield prosecuted the case. The investigation was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
