Solan police have arrested two individuals, including a Haryana police head constable, for possessing 157 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta. The suspects, Pradeep Kumar (40), a head constable from Kalayat in Kaithal district, and Mohit (21), were presented before a court on Monday. The court remanded them to five days of police custody.
The police have registered an FIR under sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 against the two men, who are believed to have been involved in drug trafficking in Himachal Pradesh for some time.
According to their interrogation, Pradeep and Mohit initially traveled to Narkanda in Shimla district to sell the heroin but failed to get the price they expected. They then returned to Solan, where they were arrested near Dohri Dwal after the police received intelligence regarding their drug-related activities in the area.
During questioning, it was revealed that Pradeep had been using his position as a police officer to peddle drugs in Himachal Pradesh. He allegedly sold heroin while in police uniform, aiming to avoid suspicion and capture.
The police are continuing their investigation into the drug trafficking activities of the duo, as they work to uncover the extent of their operations in the region.
