A significant drug haul occurred in Yamunanagar district when the Ambala unit of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau apprehended Sanjeev Kumar with 2.3 kilograms of opium. The arrest was made following a tip-off, near Bilaspur in Yamunanagar.
The accused, identified as Sanjeev Kumar from Marwa Kalan village in Yamunanagar, was found in possession of the drugs, valued at approximately Rs12 lakh in the international market. The seizure of such a large quantity of opium is a substantial success in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar confirmed that Kumar was currently residing in Dadu Majra colony, Chandigarh. The arrest has led to the registration of a case against him under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Bilaspur police station.
“The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau is committed to eradicating drug smuggling and ensuring Haryana remains drug-free,” added Rajesh.
