In a major drug bust, the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), along with the Chirawa and Surajgarh Police, intercepted a truck carrying 204 kilograms of ganja in the Surajgarh area of Jhunjhunu district. The seizure, valued at approximately Rs2.50 crore, led to the arrest of the truck’s driver, Subhash Chandra Jat (40), a resident of Norgah ka Bas Jatan, Charkhi Dadri district in Haryana.

According to an official statement, the police had received a tip-off about a truck transporting a large quantity of ganja from Odisha to Haryana. The police teams, led by Sub-Inspector Subhash Tanwar, along with officers from both the AGTF and local police, tracked the truck for several hours. Despite encountering multiple roadblocks and warnings, the driver recklessly attempted to evade capture, endangering lives and causing damage to several vehicles in Surajgarh town.

Eventually, the truck swerved off the road into a field near the Jakhod bypass, where the driver attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police. Upon inspection, authorities discovered a hidden compartment in the truck’s rear body, cleverly designed to avoid detection. Inside, they found six plastic bags containing 40 packets of ganja, weighing a total of 204.85 kg.

The truck, contraband, and driver were seized, and the arrest was made. Officials revealed that Subhash Chandra Jat has a criminal history, including a previous conviction under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Haryana. He had been sentenced to 10 years in prison but was released on bail in 2017. However, he absconded, and a reward had been placed on his head for evading arrest.

The operation was supervised by Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Dinesh MN, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Yogesh Yadav. Intelligence from Constable Harish of the AGTF Chirawa unit played a crucial role in initiating the raid. The team included officers from the AGTF headquarters and the Chirawa and Surajgarh police who worked in close coordination to execute the operation.

The arrested suspect, Subhash Chandra Jat, is currently under interrogation, with authorities investigating his connections to other offenders and ongoing drug trafficking activities.
