Harshal Chaudhari Arrested for Chain Snatching in Nagpur

Crime Branch recovers stolen gold locket within hours of theft

n a swift operation, the Nagpur Crime Branch arrested Harshal Chaudhari (21), a commerce graduate, for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a passerby near Bhagyalakshmi Hall on Ring Road, Hudkeshwar.

The victim, 61-year-old Mukund Domale, was walking when a man on a two-wheeler grabbed his gold chain and broke the locket worth Rs 20,000. Although the chain fell to the ground, the thief fled with the locket. Domale immediately reported the crime to Hudkeshwar Police Station, and a case was registered under Section 304(2) of the BNS.

Using CCTV footage and technical evidence, the Crime Branch’s Anti-Gold Chain Theft Squad tracked Harshal and arrested him within hours in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Hudkeshwar. During questioning, he confessed to the crime, stating that he needed money for his ailing mother’s treatment.

The team, led by DCP Rahul Maknikar, ACP Abhijit Patil, and Addl CP Vasant Pardeshi, recovered the stolen gold locket, motorbike, and mobile phones worth a total of Rs 1,14,000. Harshal was handed over to Hudkeshwar Police for further legal proceedings.
