A 20-year-old man named Harsh has been arrested for the murder of 32-year-old Rohit in Farrukhnagar. Harsh was taken into custody near the KMP Expressway on Monday night. The police say Harsh confessed that he and Rohit were friends who ran separate businesses supplying water and tea to local establishments.
On February 24, Harsh, along with two other assailants, shot Rohit eight times before fleeing the scene. Rohit was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead. Police later discovered that Rohit had a criminal background, with nine criminal cases against him, including attempted murder, assault, and extortion in Gurgaon.
Harsh, who is also accused in an assault case, is currently on a four-day police remand. Police officials have indicated that they are working to locate the other two suspects involved in the murder.
Harsh explained the motive for the murder during his interrogation. He revealed that he had planned to kill a person with the help of some associates, but Rohit had leaked the plan to the potential target. Harsh, feeling betrayed and bearing a grudge, decided to kill Rohit instead, along with his accomplices.
The attack occurred while Rohit was returning home after delivering tea and water at a factory near the World College of Technology and Management in Kheri Khurrampur village. Rohit’s father, Ved Prakash, later told the police that his son had argued with Harsh earlier that day during lunch. Harsh had allegedly warned Rohit of “dire consequences.”
Based on the father’s complaint, Farrukhnagar police registered a murder case under relevant sections. The Crime Branch team gathered evidence from the scene and is now investigating the whereabouts of the other accused individuals.
