The primary suspect in aRs5.74 crore government procurement scam dating back to 2011 has been apprehended in Patna, Bihar. The fraud involved the supply of JODW bags, which are used in official government procurement and distribution processes.
The scam was discovered in 2011 when government-purchased JODW bags were found to be duplicates, resulting in significant misappropriation of public funds. A formal case was registered in 2012.
Authorities reported that the main accused, Harsh Agarwal, had been evading arrest for several years. Following months of detailed investigation, he was finally apprehended in Patna. Two other suspects, Dr. Saif Z and Ashrar, remain at large.
Earlier, the government had halted all transfers of JODW bags, and investigations had led to action against the contractor and proprietor, Dudhwa Food India Private Limited.
After his arrest, Harsh Agarwal was presented in court. Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
