A man named Harpreet Singh, a resident of Tajipur, was caught stealing motorcycle parts in Kapurthala’s Dariyewal village during the early hours between September 13 and 14. Villagers, who had been facing repeated thefts of starter motors and electric wires from agricultural motor pumps, caught him red-handed around 1:30 am.
Divindarpal Singh, a local farmer, informed the police about the ongoing thefts affecting farmers in the area. During a vigil, villagers saw Harpreet breaking the lock of a motor pump and trying to remove its starter motor. The accused was immediately overpowered by the villagers and handed over to the Talwandi Chaudhrian police for further investigation.
