Punjab, India — The menace of drug and weapon smuggling from Pakistan via drones continues unabated, with the Punjab Police and central agencies seizing over 35 kg of heroin in the past 24 hours.
In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted 26 kg of heroin from a cross-border smuggler. In a separate crackdown, Amritsar City Police seized another 9 kg of narcotics, arresting six individuals, including a private schoolteacher.
Investigations revealed that all busted modules were linked to Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Jatt, a notorious gangster operating from abroad. Punjab’s Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed that Happy Jatt, a proclaimed offender facing 21 criminal cases, was coordinating with Pakistan-based smugglers to run a drone-enabled drug network.
One key operative, Sajan Singh alias Billa, a local hairdresser, was arrested while attempting to deliver 25.9 kg of heroin and a Glock pistol. Sajan reportedly received multiple drone consignments over the past two months and maintained contact with Happy Jatt through social media platforms.
Meanwhile, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police dismantled two more drug networks, arresting Honey (18), Parmdeep Singh (18), Harwinder Singh (19), Gurpreet Singh (25), Jasbir Kaur (40) and Kulwinder Kaur (54). Authorities recovered 8.062 kg of heroin from these arrests.
According to Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the crackdown began with the arrest of Honey. Further interrogation led to the arrest of Jasbir Kaur and Kulwinder Kaur, from whom 1.004 kg of heroin was seized. Jasbir Kaur is believed to have direct communication with Pakistani smugglers.
Efforts are ongoing to track down two additional members of these smuggling modules.
