Harpal Singh, also known as Pala, a resident of Rorawala border village, was arrested with 516 grams of heroin near a drain in Attari. He was produced before a local court on Friday, which remanded him in police custody for three days to facilitate further investigation.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) has been registered against Singh. Police officials stated that the ongoing probe aims to trace the source of the seized contraband.
Authorities are currently verifying Harpal Singh’s alleged links with Pakistan-based drug smugglers. Notably, Singh is a newcomer to the illegal drug trade with no previous criminal record. He is expected to be presented again in court for an extension of police custody as the investigation continues.
