In a bizarre case of livestock theft, Coimbatore Police arrested two individuals for stealing 33 piglets from a piggery and transporting them across the state border to Kerala.
The accused have been identified as M. Hariram, 19, a resident of Manimuthu Nagar in Kozhinjampara, Palakkad district, Kerala, and his 17-year-old friend from Sulur, Coimbatore.
According to officials, the piglets were stolen from a local piggery in Coimbatore and taken to a pig farm in Kerala, likely for resale or personal farming purposes. The theft was reported by the piggery owner, who noticed the animals missing and alerted the police.
Acting on specific leads, police tracked the movements of the accused and conducted a joint operation to retrieve the stolen piglets. The animals were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Legal action is being initiated under livestock theft and property offense laws. The minor is currently being processed under the Juvenile Justice Act, while Hariram is in police custody pending further investigation.
