Harikrishnan, Sandeep Held in UPI Fraud

Mannanthala police nab two for theft

The Mannanthala Police have arrested two youths for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and fraudulently transferring money from the victim’s bank account using a payment application.

The accused have been identified as Harikrishnan (28), a native of West Kallada in Kollam district, and Sandeep (29), a resident of Vadaserikkara in Pathanamthitta district.

According to police, the duo allegedly stole the victim’s mobile phone and used a payment app installed on the device to transfer money from the linked bank account without authorisation.

Authorities registered a case following the complaint and launched an investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of the two suspects.

Further probe is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in similar incidents. Police have advised the public to immediately block lost or stolen phones and secure banking applications to prevent unauthorised transactions.
