Kaushambi police have arrested Harikaran Bind alias Karan Bind, a wanted criminal from Jaunpur, in connection with the murder and loot of a trailer driver near Kasia service lane on National Highway 2.
The incident occurred on May 16, under the Kokhraj police station limits, where the driver of a trailer truck was found murdered and the vehicle looted. Following this, police registered an FIR and launched an intensive manhunt.
Bind, who carried a Rs25,000 cash reward, was apprehended during the ongoing crackdown.
Police also confirmed that the prime accused in the case was killed in a police encounter, and six others have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Investigations are continuing to identify any remaining associates involved in the deadly highway robbery.
