Prakasam district police have successfully solved a major wedding theft case, recovering stolen property worth approximately Rs20.20 lakh. The arrests were announced by District Superintendent of Police V Harshavardhan Raju at the District Police Office.
The incident took place on November 27 at Brindavanam Kalyana Mandapam in Ongole. The complainant, Gundavarapu Kishore Kumar, was celebrating his daughter’s wedding and had kept a bag containing 158 grams of gold jewellery and Rs1.35 lakh in cash with him. During a brief moment when he went to bless the newlyweds, the bag was stolen by unidentified persons.
The stolen items included:
A 50-gram gold bangle
A 30-gram gold chain with tiger-claw pendant
Another 50-gram gold chain
Two diamond rings (18 grams)
Gold earrings (10 grams)
A special investigation team, under DSP R Srinivasarao and led by Circle Inspector T Vijaya Krishna, traced the accused to Sansi village in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. On December 14, the police arrested Hari Om (25) and Vikas (21), along with two juveniles, recovering 158 grams of gold and Rs1.25 lakh in cash.
The SP praised the team for their exceptional investigative work and announced rewards for the successful resolution of the case.
