In a major breakthrough against organized crime, Noonmati Police in Guwahati have arrested two key members of a notorious ATM robbery gang that had been targeting the city for months. The arrested suspects, Hari Om and Bitu Kumar, are both natives of Bihar and were operating an extensive criminal network involved in multiple ATM thefts across the metropolitan area.
The duo was apprehended following a strategic operation carried out by the Noonmati Police team. Acting on intelligence provided by the arrested men, the police conducted a late-night raid in the Ramsingh Hill area. During the operation, one of the suspects sustained a leg injury after falling from a height in the hilly terrain. He was immediately admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment and remains under police custody.
Authorities believe that more members may be involved, and efforts are underway to track down the rest of the gang.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, officers from Titabar Police Station, led by the officer-in-charge, thwarted another attempted ATM heist. Two individuals were arrested, and police recovered a rod and an axe, which were to be used in the crime.
Both operations mark a significant stride in curbing ATM-related crimes and ensuring public safety in Guwahati and surrounding areas.
