The Chittoor urban police on October 10, 2025, arrested a serial house burglar involved in multiple thefts across South India. The accused, H. Hanumanthappa (27), is a resident of Bellary district, Karnataka.

His arrest is tied to a major theft on September 30 in Ramnagar Colony, Chittoor, where the suspect allegedly stole gold ornaments worth over Rs25 lakh, Rs2 lakh in cash, and a two-wheeler.

Police said Hanumanthappa operated alone, often sleeping in open fields after committing crimes to avoid detection. He is reportedly wanted in multiple theft cases across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.

Officials lauded the inter-state coordination that led to his capture and are investigating his involvement in similar unsolved cases in the region.
