A fresh case of embezzlement involving multiple cars being mortgaged has been registered at Bhanwarkuan police station against Hanif Pathan. Pathan was recently arrested by Pardeshipura police for allegedly cheating people by renting out cars through the Zoom app and illegally mortgaging them.
During the investigation, Pardeshipura police recovered 10 abandoned vehicles from Pathan’s possession. The complaint was filed by Saurabh Gurjar, a resident of Sarwanand Nagar, Bholaram Ustad Marg, who runs a car rental business and had leased multiple vehicles to Hanif.
According to police, Hanif rented eight cars belonging to himself and friends under rental agreements charging Rs 1,500 per day but neither paid the rent nor returned the vehicles. The accused reportedly rented the cars at different times before disappearing and became unreachable.
Further inquiries revealed that Hanif had mortgaged the rented vehicles to scrap dealers and others in the Rajgarh-Biaora region without informing the owners, causing significant financial losses.
Police continue to investigate the extent of the fraud and are working to trace any accomplices involved.
